Scholars at Nelson Mandela/Hosea Zollicoffer take a trip to Ridgefield Playhouse
Sixth-grade scholars from Vito DiMatteo Michele Batista's class at Nelson Mandela/Hosea Zollicoffer School were lucky to receive a free trip to Ridgefield Playhouse! Scholars spent the day learning about different planets in our solar system through art and theater. The group also attended a musical performance about the solar system based on the 90s show "The Magic School Bus."

Parents got their first look at their new school Wednesday morning, as Nelson Mandela/Dr. Hosea Zollicoffer School hosted a tour for families of students transferring into the school for the 2025-2026 school year as a result of the building reorganization. They also met the incoming principal, Danielle Davis-Marrow, who welcomed families to the school. NMHZ will be a grades preK-6 school in the upcoming school year.

Last Wednesday afternoon, middle school students at the Nelson Mandela/ Dr. Hosea Zollicoffer School engaged in an exclusive assembly and Q&A with Westchester County Legislator Tyrae Woodson-Samuels. Students got insightful answers from Legislator Woodson-Samuels on local politics and future careers.

Memorization skills were on display, as middle schoolers at Nelson Mandela / Dr. Hosea Zollicoffer School recited as many numbers of pi as they could for the school's inaugural Pi Day on Friday, March 14, 2025.

Sixth-grade students at Nelson Mandela/Dr. Hosea Zollicoffer School created an Ancient Egyptian Museum as a culminating end of the unit project and presented it last Friday. Students also gathered information and presented their projects to the school as well as members from the Board of Education.

On March 4, 2025, Nelson Mandela/Dr. Hosea Zollicoffer School hosted the "Laser Reader" and "Black History Tribute Laser Show" that captivated students and faculty alike.

Students at Nelson Mandela/Dr. Hosea Zollicoffer heard from a variety of professionals from different industries for their Black History Month guest speaker event during the first week of February. Guest speakers discussed their career paths and what Black History Month means to them.
